Invacare Birdie Evo Compact Mobile Hoist with Manual Leg Opening and Detachable Battery

Providing you maximum comfort and safety during lifts and transfers of patients from beds, chairs and even the floor, the Invacare Birdie Evo Compact Mobile Hoist with Manual Leg Opening and Detachable Battery is an ideal addition to any care environment. With a compact size designed to operate in tighter areas, the lifter includes a high boom and 360° patient turning ability to make transfers as smooth as possible for both patient and carer.

Built for Tight Spaces

Care homes and residential care settings will often call for patient transfers in small rooms, making the large size of standard hoists unsuitable. Cleverly designed to minimise footprint while still allowing room for the patient, the compact size and high manoeuvrability of the Invacare Birdie Evo makes it ideal for use in smaller spaces for otherwise awkward lifts.

How Does 360° Rotation Improve Transfers?

The rotation of a patient during a transfer can often cause the client discomfort and anxiety as they are being positioned. The capacity for 360° rotation allows the carer to turn the patient to the ideal position to finish the transfer, preventing the mast of the hoist from getting in the way of a safe and secure placement.

How Does a High Boom Make Patients More Comfortable?

One of the main features of the Birdie Evo Hoist is the long, high boom. With a greater length of boom, the user is given more space, greatly reducing the chance of injuries, as well as making rotating and positioning the transfer sling easier. Another advantage of the long boom is it makes transferring a patient into a chair or bed far easier than with some alternative lifters.

What Safety Features Are Included?

The castors on the base of the Birdie Evo Lifter are designed with snap-lock brakes that prevent the lifter moving while in use, making accidents far less likely. The lifter features a clear battery indicator, ensuring the remaining number of lifts will be well displayed to carers.

This patient lifter is feature-packed based on the latest in patient care research. The diagram below shows some of the hoist's main features at a glance.

Lightweight for Manoeuvrability

As well as being designed for safety, the Birdie Hoist is designed for ease of use for both the user and the carer. With four castors on the base of the lifter, it can be manoeuvred with greater ease and grace. As it only weighs 31kg, it isn't cumbersome or difficult to position.

Compact with Tool-Free Storage

To take up less room when stored, the Invacare Birdie Hoist can be easily folded and unfolded to the compact size shown in the image below. If you want to take up even less room, the mast and boom of the lifter can even be detached from the base for storage – all without the use of tools. As the unit only weights 31kg, folding, disassembly and storage can usually be completed by a single carer.

Certification Information

When you are lifting people that are in a fragile state, it is important to know that the hoist you are using is up to the challenge. The Birdie features CE-certified lifters that are in line with the Medical Direct Directive 93/42/ECC and hoists that comply with EN ISO 10535, the European standard for hoists. Although the products are tested rigorously by Invacare, they are double checked by the German TÜV institute, a fully accredited external body.
