Bariatric Evacuation Sledge

Immobile or bedridden patients are extremely vulnerable in emergency situations. The Bariatric Evacuation Sledge keeps patients protected from fires, weather and other hazardous environments, and works through operation by two people carrying the patient down the stairs where they would otherwise be trapped. Featuring a widened foam layer for bariatric users, this handy slide is ideal for use down stairs for people with mobility issues, helping to ensure that no one gets left behind.

What's Included?

  • 1 x Bariatric Evacuation Sledge
  • 1 x Storage Bag

How Much Weight Can this Sledge Support?

The Bariatric Evacuation Sledge is made with reinforced materials, and has been tested to carry loads up to 2000kg. This depends on proper usage, and a risk assessment should be carried out to ensure the operators of the sledge are trained to move extremely heavy loads.

Key Features

  • Sledge for bariatric patients is extra wide for bariatric patients
  • Soft foam construction is comfortable and protective while in transit
  • Intuitive design allows two users to carry one bariatric patient
  • Webbing along the length of the sledge provides a slippery surface
  • Comes with a heavy duty bag for easy carrying and storage
  • Safety belts and a foot pocket secure the user when in the appropriate position
  • Safe working load of up to 2000kg for reliable use on all patients
  • Suitable for a fire emergency sledge, with a slippery surface

Dual Layered Foam

The bariatric evacuation sledge is made up of two layers of foam:

  • Upper foam layer: designed for comfort for the user
  • Lower foam layer: heavy duty construction to protect the patient when in transit.

Webbing runs the full length to provide a slippery surface, helping improve both strength and mobility when moving the patient. This can handle weights up to two tonnes, ensuring the evacuation sledge is suitable for a vast range of patients.

Bariatric Evacuation Sledge Suitability

This emergency evacuation sledge is suitable for use when evacuating a building in the event of an emergency. Long handles enable one to two people to operate the evacuation sledge with ease, comfort and safety.

A fire evacuation sledge such as this is suitable for use on a spiralling staircase unlike many evacuation chairs. The base allows it to run over tiles, carpets and other floor types while protecting the patient from any discomfort.
